Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova today January 31st to win the 2015 Australian Open. This victory places Serena above Martina Naavratilova and Chris Evert on the tennis legend's list who both have 18 Grand Slam titles, with her 19th Grand Slam singles title.
The 33 year old world number one defeated Maria Sharapova with an emphatic 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 2 set win.
