Jim Iyke Ends Business Trip To Liberia Over Reports Of Ebola Outbreak

The Nollywood actor who was Monrovia, Liberia on a business trip, cut short his trip and fled the country following reports of the ebola virus spreading in the country. He posted a photo of himself at the VIP lounge of the Monrovia airport saying though his business is unfinished, he was leaving because of fear of contacting the virus.

Sierra Leonean Doctor Who Lead Fight Against Ebola Dies Of The Virus

The Sierra Leonean doctor who risked his life to treat more than 100 Ebola patients has also died. Dr Sheik Umar Khan (pictured above), who was honored as a national hero for putting his own health at risk and helping sick ebola patients, died on the 29th of  July from the disease after being diagnosed with the virus last week, despite wearing protective gear when treating patients.

In an interview last month, the 39yr old doctor expressed fears for his life because of his constant contact with Ebola patients. He said,

"I am afraid for my life. Health workers are prone to the disease because we are the first port of call for somebody who is sickened by the disease. Even with the full protective clothing you put on, you are at risk" 

Many other medical practitioners have lost their lives, including a senior doctor at Liberia's largest hospital, Samuel Brisbane, who died on Saturday at an Ebola treatment centre in Monrovia and 3 nurses working in the same Ebola treatment centre also died from the disease last week while several other medics have been infected.

Nasir El Rufai Loses Son In Ghastly Accident

Former FCT minister, Nasir-el-Rufai lost his son Hamza in fatal car crash Yesterday. Hamza who recently  graduated from the University of Virginia was the only one that lost his life in the crash that involved two people. His father El-Rufai expressed his sadness and pain while giving thanks to Allah in a post online.

"From Allah we came and to Him we shall return. Please join our family in praying for the repose of the soul of my son Hamza El-Rufai who died this morning in a motor accident in Abuja.
