A youth corp member identified as Mercy Okpithe, who is now disabled was said to have been severely beaten up by the Camp Commandant Captain S.O. Beke. He attacked her about 11:00p.m on Monday, March 18, 2013. She allegedly fainted and was rushed to the camp clinic for immediate treatment.
The following day, she was transferred to the Anambra State University Teaching Hospital, Awka where she was diagnosed with dislocation of coccyx, a small triangular bone at the base of the spinal column, subsequently rendering her legs useless/crippled.
Mercy was said to be a dancer, before she met this ordeal.
