Rolling Stone's Controversial Cover with Boston's Bomber: Plus New Photos of His Capture

Angered by Rolling Stone's cover of Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looking like a cool innocent kid, a furious police photographer released gritty images from the night he was captured. Released by Sgt Sean Murphy to Boston Magazine, the photos show a very bloody and injured Tsarnaev with a red dot of a sniper's rifle laser sight on his forehead. See more photos after the cut...

In a statement Sergent Murphy said, "Tsarnaev is evil and this photos show the real bomber, not someone fluffed and bluffed for the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine" He added that Rolling Stone’s cover photo, a softly-lit image of a brooding Tsarnaev, insults officers killed in the line of duty, their colleagues and their families by glamorizing the “face of terror.”

Boston Magazine editor John Wolfson later tweeted and reported on the magazine’s website that Murphy was “relieved of duty” and had a hearing next week. Police said they will conduct an internal investigation into Murphy’s release of the photos.
