Barack Obama Pledges $7billion to Improve Electricity in Nigeria

During his trip to South Africa while on his 6-day 3-nation tour of Africa, Us President Barack Obama made his intention of improving electricity in Nigeria and 6 other African Countries known (since our leaders are sleeping). These countries include, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Liberia, Tanzania and Mozambique.

Access to electricity is fundamental to opportunity in this age. It’s the light that children study by, the energy that allows an idea to be transformed into a real business. It’s the lifeline for families to meet their most basic needs, and it’s the connection that’s needed to plug Africa into the grid of the global economy’, he said.

The initiative is tagged ‘Power Africa’ and funds will be distributed over the next five years.
