A 42-year-old Cameroonian woman Mrs Evelyn Atemkeng, was arrested few days ago by Immigration officers at Calabar port while trying to flee Nigeria with a three day old baby to her country Cameroon.
According to the Immigration officers, the lady came into Nigeria on Friday by ship and returned back here on Tuesday to board a ship back to her country, but we noticed she was carrying a new born baby and decided to question her.
Evelyn claimed she gave birth to the baby three days ago in Calabar. But when a female officer thoroughly examined her, she had no sign of just giving birth. She was then apprehended with her 70-year old mother who accompanied her to Nigeria and were reported to the right authorities. After further interrogation she confessed to buying the child for 1.2million naira from a Nigerian matron in Calabar.
