World renowned designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, popularly known as D & G have been sentenced to One year eight months term in prison with an additional fine of 500,000 Euros by an Italian court after evading tax payments.
The famous designers have allegedly hidden millions from Italian tax authorities. The investigation had been going on for over six years and after facing trial in April 2011, they were cleared of tax evasion /fraud charges. However Italy's highest court overturned that ruling ordering the case be sent back to trial.
They were sentenced on June 19, following proof that the designers moved their brand to a Luxembourg based holding Company, Gado in 2004, thereby avoiding tax declarations on royalties of over 1 billion Euros.
