The king of Rumba and Congolese music veteran Papa Wemba has died at the age of 66. He suffered a heart attack while performing at Festival des Musiques Urbaines d'Anoumabo (FEMUA) - in Abidjan, Ivory Coast yesterday, Sunday April 24, 2016. He was rushed to a hospital, but he died on his way.
Papa Wemba – who founded Viva La Musica – a DR Congo band in 1977 – had collaborations with international artists including Peter Gabriel, Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder during his long music career.
