Any one who is nurturing the idea of cheating in next year's WAEC,Please think again oooooo!! The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) candidates now risk a five-year jail term under an amendment to the 2004 WAEC Act being proposed by Federal Government.
Under the proposed amendment, any malpractice will amount to a five-year jail term for offenders or the option of N200,000 fine or even both. The Minister of Education, Prof Ruqayyat Rufai, announced this in Abuja on Wednesday while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the weekly FEC meeting.
Rufai said the decision of the meeting, which was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, was to “give effect to the revised convention of WAEC, 2003 in Nigeria.”
