Breaking News: Many Feared Dead And Several Injured After A Building Collapsed In The Synagogue Of All Nations Church

 

The unfortunate incident of the collapse of a building in the Synagogue Church of All Nations Church  has led  to the death of many Nigerian citizens and several others injured. The incident happened around 2pm this afternoon. Many are stilled believed to be trapped under the rubble.

Four ambulance buses have arrived the scene, taking the injured to the hospital while the dead ones are being evacuated to the mortuary.

Liberian Woman Found Hanging In Lagos, Killed Her Herself After Stigmatization Of Ebola

A Liberian woman who was found hanging from the tree in the early hours today September 12th on Bankole Street, Isheri-Oke, is said to have allegedly committed suicide after being stigmatized as a carrier of the Ebola virus because of her nationality.

The woman known simply known as Kate was a worker in a sachet water factory before she committed suicide. Residents said that people started to distance themselves from her following the entry of Ebola into Nigeria by a Liberian and because of her sickly nature. This is believed to be the motive for committing suicide

"We see her in this neighbourhood every day. I used to see her every day in the dress she died in.She always looked sick but people stopped selling to her after the Ebola outbreak. It could be because she was Liberian and looked sickly. This might have frustrated her.”A resident said

Oscar Pistorius Granted Bail As He Awaits Sentence On October 13th

After being found guilty of manslaughter, Oscar Pistorius faces a '5 to 15 years term in prison'. He was granted bail extension today and was asked to go home. This is because the Judge believes he wouldn't attempt escape from the Country as he sold all of his property to pay his legal fees and would have to remain in the custody of his Uncle till October 13th when he would be sentenced. 

Night Of Tribute For Ebola Victim Dr. Ameyo Adedevoh

In honour and remembrance of the phenomenal Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh who died on August 19th from Ebola, after being in contact with Patrick Sawyer, a night of tribute a was held yesterday September 11th at Harbour Point Hotel in Lagos. In attendance was her son, sister, husband, close friends and other family members.

Her ash will be buried today at a private family ceremony. Pictured above is her only child, Bankole Cardoso, 2nd right, with friends, below are her sisters, her son and husband.

Oscar Pistorius Found Guilty Of Manslaughter

Yesterday Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of premeditated murder and second degree murder, but sadly he has been found guilty of manslaughter. According to the judge his conduct after the shooting was 'inconsistent' with someone who intended to commit murder, but acted negligently when he fired shots into the toilet door. There still hasn't been any sentence yet, but below are the charges and his verdict

He was also found not guilty of the first firearm charge - (firing a gun through the roof of his car)
He was found not guilty of the third firearm charge (unlawfully possessing 38 rounds of ammunition at his home without having a license).
He was found guilty of the second firearm charge. He discharged a weapon in a public place, a restaurant called Tashas and asked his friend to take the blame. 

The judge concluded that Oscar was sufficiently trained in the use of firearms, so should not have asked for a firearm in a public place, and that no one submitted that there was an intention to pull the trigger, but that does not absolve him of the crime of negligently handling a firearm.
